Sadaqah purifies your wealth, averts calamity, and brings barakah in your sustenance and blessings. By giving Sadaqah to those in need, you not only bring change in their lives but also multiply your blessings. Islam propagates the idea of giving to the poor in the form of Sadaqah and we’re continuously reminded of this in Quran and Sunnah.
The Prophet said:
“Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.”
Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589
The Holy Quran repeatedly emphasises giving charity and helping the impoverished.
“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.”
Surat Al-Baqarah [2:261]
